Worship
There is one main service per week, based on the 1982 Scottish Episcopal Liturgy.
Our congregational life is centred around the Sunday Eucharist. We see ourselves as a family, a small ‘clan-sized group’, so we hold one service that all can attend. We have a good mix of ages, a balanced ratio of men to women and many who have come to us from very different traditions. We value our diversity.
In style we follow Scottish, Catholic practice: robes, servers, candles and incense but are also very informal, with a high level of congregational participation and input. We have experimented with different liturgical layouts in the worship space and hope to continue to explore ways in which new ideas can enrich our experience and understanding of God’s message.
Children are very important to the ethos of our worship. We have recently begun to give them space to share their experiences and thoughts with us during the service.
Music is central. We enjoy singing and use several different mass settings during the year. We have a very fine organ with four regular players from our own ranks. With many other instrumentalists and singers in the congregation, we also have a band and a choir.
Our Fellowship is continued after the service with refreshments in the hall downstairs.
